Grandma's Home Brewed Soaps

Wow! I didn't know that making soap could be so much fun! I've made about 15 different kinds of soap for a craft sale I'm going to in a couple of weeks. I just love putting different shapes and colors together, it's such a thrill to cut the loaves into bars and see what they look like.

I've got ready for sale the following fragrances at $3.95 a bar. These bars weigh right at 5 ounces, they are hand cut so they do vary just a little but most of them will weigh 5 ounces or more.

Angel's Grace
Baby Powder
Black Cherry Swirl
Carmel Apple
Citrus Bliss
Goats Milk Honey & Oatmeal
Lilac's In Bloom
Mango Mania
Night Musk
Peachy Passionflower
Plumeria
Raspberry Sundae
Spring Rain
Strawberries & Cream
Very Vanilla
Wild Berries

These make great gifts for almost everyone on your shopping list and just in time for the Holidays. I didn't think much about the guys liking them but both my Husband and my grown Son say they are wonderful. My daughter and daughter in law, granddaughters and grandsons are using them too. My daughter and my daughter in law are even selling them for me at their places of work. My granddaughter wanted to go door to door and sell them to their neighbors but her Mom wouldn't let her. I just love it when I find something the whole family likes. Well, that's my activity for this month, stop by next month and see what I am up to.

Amazing Homemade Laundry Soap

This is an update on mine and my families experiences with the Laundry Detergent.
I gave some to both my Daughter and Daughter-in-Law, they both liked it very much.
I've made more for them but this time I used Zote Laundry Bar Soap instead of the Ivory. The Girls haven't tried theirs yet but I have and think it does a much better job than with the Ivory. They both loved the first batch so am real anxious to see what they have to say about this batch of Laundry Detergent.

Amazing Homemade Laundry Detergent

After trying this amazing Homemade Laundry Detergent for the first time I was really impressed. It is easy to make and does an excellent job of cleaning your clothes. It is considerably cheaper than your Store bought Laundry Detergents. I got about 1 1/2 Gallons for less than $1.00. Decided it was a recipe I needed to share!!

Amazing Homemade Laundry Detergent

3 Pints Water

1/3 bar Fels Naptha Soap, Grated (I couldn't find this brand so used a 3 oz. bar of Ivory)

1/2 Cup Washing Soda (Arm & Hammer-Found in the Laundry Detergent Isle at the Grocery Store)

1/2 Cup 20 Mule Team Borax

2-Gallon Bucket for Mixing

Additional Hot Water

Directions:

Mix the grated soap in a saucepan with 3 Pints of hot water and heat on medium until dissolved. Stir in washing soda and borax. Stir until thickened, remove from hear. Add 1 quart of hot water to your two-gallon bucket. Add soap miture and mix well. Fill bucket to about 3 inches from the top with additional hot water, and mix well. Set aside for 24 hours, or until mixture thickens. Use 1/2 cup of mixture per load.

Note: This detergent will not make suds, which makes it perfect for frontploading washers. Also there might be a few lumps after sitting for the 24 hours, I just used my hands to break them up. This detergent has the consistency of thin cream of wheat, kind of strange but it works very well.

Best Banana Bread

I was at the grocery store in our small town of around 800 people, when checking out they had over ripe banana's at the checkout with a sign that said Free, take some. Only in a small town would you find this. I imediately thought Banana Bread, so I picked some up and went home to make this delicious bread. Once made I sliced some and took it back to the people at the store for their afternoon coffee break. Just a little Thank You for the free bananas. I thought maybe some of you would like this recipe as well as my family does.

Best Banana Bread
1/2 cup Butter
1 cup Brown Sugar
2 Eggs(well beaten)
3 Bananas (mashed)
2 cups Flour
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Soda
2 T. warm Water
1/2 cup Walnuts (chopped)
Mix first 4 ingredients, beat to cream together. Add soda and salt to flour and blend with creamed mixture. Add nuts, pour into prepared loaf pans (I use spray oil and then dust them with flour.) Bake about 1 hour at 350 degrees.
